Janet P. Gerard is a solo practitioner and owner of her law firm located in Ramsey, New Jersey. Janet earned a B.A. in English at Trenton State College, an M.A. in English from New York University, and a J.D. at Seton Hall University School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in New Jersey, licensed to teach English in New Jersey, and is certified as a Facilitator for the Separated and Divorced.

Janet has over 29 years of legal experience in the areas of Residential Real Estate Law, Matrimonial Law, Wills, Living Wills and Powers of Attorney. She also prepares and negotiates commercial leases for commercial properties and businesses.

Janet counsels clients in every aspect of Family Law, including Pre-Nuptial Agreements, Domestic Partnerships, Parenting Plans, divorce related issues, and step-parent adoptions.

Janet counsels clients in all phases of real estate, including leases, purchases, sales, financing and refinancing of residential properties.

Janet counsels clients in the preparation of Wills, Living Wills, Advanced Medical Directives and Powers of Attorney.

Janet also has extensive experience in Higher Education and is the Corporate Director for Campus Development for Eastwick College in Ramsey, New Jersey. Janet researches, plans, and develops new educational programs at the college level. She has appeared before the New Jersey State Mortuary Board and has helped to create a new Associate Degree Program in Business and Entrepreneurship. She also negotiates articulation agreements with local colleges.

Janet is a motivational speaker and has lectured on such subjects as stress management, sexual harassment, study skills, dealing with the difficult student, professional development, the art of the interview and resume, and the ins and outs of real estate closings. She has been recently nominated by Eastwick College for the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities’ Award for the Most Innovative Best Practice/New Program
